13 global warming facts that'll scare you this Friday the 13th

Dear Friend,

Friday the 13th just got a little scarier.

We've put together 13 facts about the realities of global warming.

Even Jason would be frightened.

We know what it will take to solve the global warming crisis -- a strong economy-wide cap on global warming pollution that unleashes our clean energy future.

But it will take a movement of millions of people like us to fight the special interest lobbyists and get Congress to finally act.

So please, read our facts and then spread the word to your friends and family any way you can -- through email, Facebook, Twitter, blogs, whatever works for you.

2009 will be a showdown year for global warming action. You can help us build a stronger nation-wide community of activists that we can mobilize at a moment's notice to help make history this year.

Please read our facts and spread the word.

A FEW FACTS

35% -- Increase in the global carbon dioxide emissions from the burning of fossil fuels since the Kyoto Protocol was signed in 1992.

34% -- Percentage that 2008's Arctic seasonal sea ice melt outpaced normal levels.

$427 million -- Amount spent by the oil and coal industries in the first six months of 2008 in political contributions, lobbying expenditures and advertising to oppose climate action.

See all 13 Frightening Facts.

Thanks for all that you continue to do.

Sincerely,
Sam Parry
